Carnarvon on high after rout
Carnarvon Cricket Club — also known as the Triple C’s — go into Saturday’s 45-over game against Whalers full of confidence following a win last weekend.
However, victory over Gascoyne did not come as easily as one may have expected.
The Triple C’s routed Gassie for just 97 in 35 overs.
Carnarvon got the required runs in just 21 overs but lost seven wickets in the process.
Opener Chris Cross made his intentions known from the first ball, when he clouted a six.
It was followed with a boundary and Cross top-scored with 36.
Gascoyne’s tightest bowler did not finish with a wicket — Shaun Ramirez having just three runs scored from his four overs.
Tongan N. Tuitupou started with a 10-ball over, but then he found his line and length, finishing with 4-32 from his seven overs.
Earlier, Gascoyne’s Cooper Faithful put some backbone into his side, top scoring with 25, to give the score some respectability.
Triple C bowlers Trent Lyall snared 3-29 from nine overs, while Judd Morris chipped in with 2-15 from eight overs.
