Carnar­von on high af­ter rout

Carnar­von Cricket Club — also known as the Triple C’s — go into Satur­day’s 45-over game against Whalers full of con­fi­dence fol­low­ing a win last week­end.

How­ever, vic­tory over Gas­coyne did not come as eas­ily as one may have ex­pected.

The Triple C’s routed Gassie for just 97 in 35 overs.

Carnar­von got the re­quired runs in just 21 overs but lost seven wick­ets in the process.

Opener Chris Cross made his in­ten­tions known from the first ball, when he clouted a six.

It was fol­lowed with a bound­ary and Cross top-scored with 36.

Gas­coyne’s tight­est bowler did not fin­ish with a wicket — Shaun Ramirez hav­ing just three runs scored from his four overs.

Ton­gan N. Tuitupou started with a 10-ball over, but then he found his line and length, fin­ish­ing with 4-32 from his seven overs.

Ear­lier, Gas­coyne’s Cooper Faith­ful put some back­bone into his side, top scor­ing with 25, to give the score some re­spectabil­ity.

Triple C bowlers Trent Lyall snared 3-29 from nine overs, while Judd Mor­ris chipped in with 2-15 from eight overs.
