Bal­ance in team sides

Northamp­ton Bowl­ing Club has a ladies mem­ber­ship of just 11 play­ers, mean­ing the nom­i­na­tion of two sides for the an­nual tour­na­ment was ex­tremely good.

The cham­pi­onship was played as a best of three games and the two sides were evenly bal­anced, with nei­ther four­some able to gain the as­cen­dancy through­out the day.

The first match re­sulted in vic­tory to Batavia League leg­end Kaye Bur­ton, who teamed with Val Ol­man, Kaye Simkin and Margy Simp­son. They took the early ad­van­tage with a 13/12 over pen­nant skip­per Pauline For­rester and her side of Eva Wat­son, Karen Drage and Kay Sud­low.

In game two, the For­rester quar­tet took hon­ours in an out­stand­ing 16/14 vic­tory.

A third match was re­quired to re­veal Northamp­ton’s cham­pi­ons at the 2018 BBL Cham­pion of Cham­pion se­ries on the 18th Novem­ber at Mullewa Bowl­ing Club. The fi­nal match was equal to both ear­lier games, with nei­ther team able to break away.

When the dust set­tled, it was For­rester’s four­some which claimed the match 16/14 and the club ti­tle, the ag­gre­gate of just three shots sep­a­rat­ing the two sides af­ter 42 ends of play.

Won­thella Bowl­ing Club cham­pi­ons for 2018 are the qual­ity com­bi­na­tion of Gayl Wil­son, Lyn Pass­more, Mary Fen­ton and Mar­lene Chaushs who de­feated Beryl Grace, Jenny Gary, Jan Shee­han and Carolyn Crid­dle for the pres­ti­gious an­nual ti­tle.

The Batavia Bowl­ing League is re­quest­ing nom­i­na­tions from play­ers for the 2019 In­ter League Round Robin se­ries to be held in Jan­uary at Dal­wallinu Bowl­ing Club.

Again the BBL with be send­ing two sides to the an­nual se­ries with 32 po­si­tions avail­able for rep­re­sen­ta­tive du­ties against leagues north of the metropoli­tan re­gion.

Moore, Cen­tral Mid­land, Cen­tral West Coastal and the North Mid­lands re­gions will com­pete in the event.
