Sir Stirling Moss gets reacquainted with Rob Walker demonstrator
After 48 years, the Rob Walker MiniSprint demonstrator has been reunited with the man that put it through its paces for the press – Sir Stirling Moss. Thanks to the efforts of Pete Flanagan, VPR 470, which is now owned by Ant Hines, was reacquainted with Sir Stirling at the Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia event in July.
Ant’s car was fully restored in California by Heritage Garage, before being air- freighted to the UK for the MkI Action Day at Blyton Park in May. With Stirling due to attend Shelsley as a guest of honour, Pete sensed a perfect photo opportunity arising. Shelsley’s Mark Constanduras agreed and kindly offered Ant the chance to display the Mini alongside ex- Sterling Moss cars such as his SWB Ferrari 250, Lotus 18 and Cooper Type 51.
Sir Stirling was delighted to see the beautifullyrestored MiniSprint once again, pose for photos and to be reminded of his time driving Rob Walker cars all those years ago. An impressive reunion, we’re sure you’ll agree!
