ECOBOOST ESTATE

Here’s my recently-converted Ford EcoBoost Clubman. I've owned the car for a few years now, going from an 850 engine to a Metro Turbo. It’s my daily car though, and many years of the daily grind took its toll on a highly strung A-Series engine and gearbox. I was working in a Ford main dealer when the first 1.0 EcoBoost engines came into production, and after seeing one in a Focus with a six-speed box I started to eye it up as a conversion.

It’s so small I thought it would be a perfect setup for a Mini. The engine, gearbox and ancillaries was just £300 from eBay, and six months later, with much help from friends, it was on the road. With 150bhp and 205NM torque it’s extremely fun to drive with the reliability and economy of a modern car.

Is Charlie's Clubby the first ever EcoBoost Mini?
