Name: Mike Clements Car: 1984 Japanese Mini Location: British Columbia

Hello from Canada. I’ve owned three Minis in my life so far – a ‘62 Countryman, a ‘70s Cooper S, and now an ’84 Japanese export. It was factory ordered as a left-hand drive and contains all the Japanese-spec parts and features. The car was brought to Canada in 1997 and I eventually bought it in 2012 with seized brakes and clutch, and faulty electrics. I got the car mechanically sound so I could get it registered, then the first winter I tore it down and removed all the rust. My son and I repainted the shell and I reassembled it with new parts. Later on the brakes, suspension and steering were all replaced and I’ve since installed a Mini Sport Stage 1 tuning kit. I’m a member of the Vancouver Mini Club and have enjoyed attending the shows and rallies to talk, always learning more about my car’s history.

Mike’s Mini is a Japanese import.

The Mini has had a full respray.
