Mini Magazine - - Tech -

Q Do you have any top tips for separating the rubber suspension cone spring from the aluminium trumpet? I’m in the process of fitting Hi-Los. The driver’s side was fine and came apart no problem, but the passenger side is being a real pain. I just can’t get them to part company! Any advice you can give would be a real help. Richard A You haven’t said if this is front or rear. Whichever, the best start is to soak the joint in a releasing agent such as WD40. Do this several times throughout the day and leave it overnight. That should ease the corrosion holding the two parts together. If it does not separate easily, then some levering with a decent sized pry bar will be needed. Patience and perseverance is the key here.
