A lov­ing touch can soothe bub, so try this step- by- step baby mas­sage tech­nique from John­sons’ Baby

In a warm room, place your naked bub on soft tow­els. Put your palms on the sides of his face and use your thumbs to stroke a smile on his top, then bot­tom lip.

With palms on his chest, push your hands out to his sides, fol­low­ing his ribcage as if you’re flat­ten­ing a book.

Re­peat with other arm. Stroke his palms, gen­tly un­curl­ing his fin­gers. Put both hands around one leg. Move them up and down, turn­ing in op­po­site di­rec­tions. Re­peat with other leg.

Gen­tly mas­sage the sole of bub’s foot with your thumb, work­ing from heel to toe. Re­peat with other foot.
