Q MY SON IS 11 MONTHS OLD AND STILL DOESN’T HAVE ANY TEETH – IS THIS NORMAL?

A

GP DR LINDA CALABRESI SAYS: Yes – that’s perfectly normal. Although the average age at which a first tooth appears is around six months, there is a very wide range that makes up the spectrum of ‘normal’ – from infancy to older than 18 months. Often the timing of when first teeth appear is hereditary, so it might be worth checking whether you or your son’s father was still gummy at 11 months. Nevertheless, I can all but guarantee your son will have his full set of 20 baby teeth by the time he is three years old.
