The former Neighbours star opens up about adding to her family

TESTING times Trent and I had been trying to conceive for a few months, and one day I was just so grumpy – I just thought I was hangry! We were in between moving house and I was cleaning up when I got this dizzy spell. Later on, when we were in the car, I asked Trent to stop in at the chemist so I could buy a test. It came back positive!

It had taken us four months to get pregnant, and we are so lucky that at my age it happened so quickly. At 38, I thought it might be an uphill battle, and I know so many of my friends are doing IVF at this age. Trent was very keen to add to the family. In fact, I think he would have me pregnant for the rest of my childbearing years if he could have his way! BUMP watch I loved being pregnant. I had no dramas, really. I didn’t get the morning sickness I got with Millana, and I definitely felt like I was having Trent’s son from early on because I craved so much protein – I couldn’t get enough ham and bacon! Now when I look at Phoenix’s juicy legs I say they are full of protein – all of the protein I ate while I was pregnant!

One downside was that because I had a blood clot on my lung years ago, Trent had to inject me with blood thinners every day, which wasn’t great because I have a needle phobia. Plus, there’s just something so unnatural about getting injections in your growing belly. IT’S A boy! Because of my age, we had a lot of tests to make sure Phoenix was as healthy as possible, and we chose to find out what we were having pretty early on in the piece. When the doctor called and said there was no risk of any complications, tears just fell out of my face – I was so happy! It was then that she told us both on loudspeaker that we were having a boy. We screamed with excitement; Trent has two girls and I have my girl, so we were not-so-secretly hoping for a boy. It was amazing to first of all fall pregnant, then to pass all of the tests and have no risks – it was such a blessing. We feel so lucky! DELIVERY day Labour was awesome! I know that’s a very odd thing to say. Of course it’s really hard, but the more you try to relax and let your body get through it, the easier it will be.

We chose to find out what we were having pretty early on.
