I’m a bit confused about when the best time to express is. Can you give me some advice?
Lactation consultant Barb Glare says:
Women make milk at the same rate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, mums might feel fuller at night if their baby sleeps longer at night – which many do (but many don’t, too!). So it’s best to choose a time when your baby has a longer break from feeding – for some mums this might be overnight, but it could be any time.
And remember, expressing takes practice – the quantity of milk you can express tells you nothing about the amount of milk that you have for your baby.
