The World Play Shortage Report found that almost one in three adults have less than 10 hours of free time every week. This lack of leisure time has a direct effect on children, too, with 40 per cent of parents admitting they haven’t taken their children to the park in a year. Australian children today also have three hours less play time per week than their parents’ generation did. Interestingly, Denmark scored highest in terms of being ‘most playful’ with more than 33 hours per week. Here are some ideas for building more play time into your family life: At the weekend, play family board or card games After dinner, go for a stroll together around the block Put on some tunes and dance around the living room Pack a picnic and go to the park Colour in, draw or make craft together
