THE V12 is upped to 5.7 litres ini­tially and fit­ted with four-valve heads and mul­ti­point fuel in­jec­tion. Fi­nal cars boosted to 6.0 litres as Audi pre­pared to launch Mur­cielago. Four-wheel drive from 1993. Chas­sis still a steel space­frame mount­ing dou­blewish­bone coil spring sus­pen­sion with front and rear anti-roll bars like Coun­tach, but switches from round to square tubes for sim­pler con­struc­tion, and high-strength steel is added to the cock­pit. Bi­cep-bust­ing unas­sisted steer­ing un­til ’93. Alu­minium and com­pos­ite body based on an­other Gan­dini de­sign but was soft­ened at new boss Chrysler’s in­sis­tence by Amer­i­can stylist Tom Gale, later of Ply­mouth Prowler and Dodge Viper fame.
