Waged war with an inline-six and six optional V8s including 280kW L78.
Second generation: 1970-1981
Retained F-body platform but lost big-block V8s in ’73. After this it made do with 138kW.
Third generation: 1982-1992
Re-engineered from the ground up, optional fuel-injected V8 only mustered 123kW.
Fourth generation: 1993-2002
Asserted itself with a 205kW/441Nm Z28 variant from debut.
Fifth generation: 2010-2015
Borrowed the Holden Commodore’s Zeta platform and 317kW 6.2-litre LS-series V8.
