SUBARU TEASES STI CONCEPT

Motor (Australia) - - THE NEWS -

IS THIS the new Subaru WRX STI? We don’t know, and we’re not sure Subaru knows either, as it provided next to no details about its ‘VIZIV Performance STI Concept’ displayed at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon. A jazzed-up version of the VIZIV concept shown at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, Subaru says the STI Concept “showcases [STI’s] expertise on enhancing driving performance by developing exclusive exterior parts.” As such, the Concept scores a new front bumper, side skirts and high-riding spoiler which “evoke STI model’s superior aerodynamic performance.” Quite. Rumours suggest a new WRX and WRX STI, based on the platform of the all-new Impreza, will appear around 2020, but Subaru is tight-lipped on the subject, refusing to confirm that the VIZIV even points towards the possible future design language of the iconic sports sedan.
