Record break­ing day


THE first Ski Club ofVic­to­ria (SCV) race for 2013, on July 13 on sky­line, at­tracted a record crowd of 74 rac­ers.

From eight years to nearly 80, rac­ers of all ages hit the slopes record­ing per­sonal bests and break­ing club records.

This weekAnja Bjar­na­son, who races in the Race Club cat­e­gory, was awarded a spe­cial prize of a full ski tune from Bumps for her fan­tas­tic ef­fort – sec­ond fastest time off scratch for the day.

A very fes­tive look­ing and lively race pre­sen­ta­tion took place in the Dump Inn.

Prizes in­cluded two sets of skis – Auski Head Skis for the fastest male off Hand­i­cap, Matt Fit­ton and Bumps Skis for the fastest boy or girl off scratch in the un­der 13 cat­e­gory, win­ner Tori Hill was pleas­antly sur­prised.

All young rac­ers were de­lighted with their en­cour­age­ment awards of spe­cial Ty Beanie Balls from Tony Oates at Big Bal­loon.

A pair of skis (And many more great prizes) will be awarded each week dur­ing the sea­son.

Rac­ing is one of the main rea­sons that the SCV was es­tab­lished in 1924 and the tra­di­tion is grow­ing stronger. Many of our 2014 Olympic hope­fuls started their rac­ing ca­reers in the SCV races.
