OWIA athletes at Mt Buller for opening weekend
OLYMPIC Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) athletes Britt Cox, Anton Grimus, Laura Peel and Danielle Scott were all on hand to celebrate the official opening of the 2015 ski season at Mt Buller over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
The four 2014 Olympians were on stage to assist Mt Buller Resort Management board chief executive officer John Huber in opening the season, as well as being interviewed and signing posters for the young fans in attendance.
Ski cross athlete and Mt Buller local,Anton Grimus, was optimis- tic for a snowy 2015 winter.
“It’s great to have four lifts turning so early in the season,” he said.
“I can’t wait to get out there and carve up some turns on Little Buller Spur.
“The early snowfalls and snowmaking conditions should set all resorts up for a strong season.”
The OWIA athletes will be training both in Australia and overseas over the next few months before competing in a number of Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA) National Championship events at various Australian resorts in August and September.
