Fashionable winter wool
THE National Alpine Museum of Australia (NAMA), level 1 at Mt Buller Alpine Central, is featuring a unique winter wool fashion display.
Wool was once the most fashionable and functional item for every ski wardrobe.
If you’re old enough, most of the items will bring fond memories flooding back.
If you’re young and trendy, you’ll marvel at the intricacy and craftsmanship of some of the splendid items on display.
Fair Isle, cable knit, jumpers, jackets, hats, socks, gloves, once every winter ski wardrobe boasted colourful hand knitted, fashionable creations.
The Mt Buller knit collection provides a truly comprehensive coverage of what are now regarded as collectors’ items.
As a special for Interschools week, NAMA’s most talked about item – the knitted ‘hoodie’ pattern will be on sale for one week only at just $7.
You too can knit yourself an heirloom and be the height of fashion on the slopes or the city.
The National Alpine Museum of Mt Buller, Level 1, Alpine Central, Summit Road, Mt Buller is open Tuesday 1pm-4pm; Wednesday 2pm-4pm; Après @ the Museum Wednesdays 5pm-7pm (July 1 - August 26); Thursdays 1pm4pm; Friday 1pm-4pm; Saturday 12-3pm; and Sunday 12-3pm.
