Top chef dies sud­denly

FOR­MER moun­tain and Mer­ri­jig iden­tity Michael Bel­trame passed away un­ex­pect­edly on Au­gust 8, aged 51 years at his home in Adelaide.

Michael was well known on Mt Buller as a re­spected for­mer chef at Cat­tle­men’s, the ABOM and the Chalet and more re­cently owner of The Mill Inn at Sawmill Set­tle­ment.

He owned and op­er­ated The Mill Inn for four years in­tro­duc­ing to his pa­trons au­then­tic Ital­ian cui­sine.

At the be­gin­ning of the 2015 snow sea­son he sold the restau­rant busi­ness to re­turn to his home city of Adelaide to look af­ter his age­ing par­ents.

Michael’s sud­den death came as a shock to many of his friends and fam­ily.

Friend Peter Lynn said Michael will be missed by all who knew him.
