MT BULLER skiers have been start­ing to take heed of the ad­vice ‘if you don’t know, don’t go’ and are signing up for the Moun­tain Safe pro­grams launched this sea­son by Tony Har­ring­ton out of his Photo Shop in the Vil­lage.

“We’ve had good in­ter­est this sea­son and folks are keen to get bet­ter ed­u­cated about how to han­dle them­selves in the back­coun­try.

There is a ses­sion sched­uled for Septem­ber 18 which is a good op­por­tu­nity for those who want to get some train­ing in be­fore head­ing off for the north­ern hemi­sphere win­ter.

The course is an in­tro­duc­tion to ter­rain aware­ness and some ba­sic skills around us­ing a shovel, bea­con and probe de­signed to help skiers and board­ers in the back­coun­try.
