AL­THOUGH spring has ar­rived on Mt Buller and Mt Stir­ling and the wat­tles are bloom­ing and the sun is shin­ing - there is still a moun­tain of fun to come over the next month.

The ac­tion keeps on over the next four weeks in­clud­ing Kids’ Week - what bet­ter place to spend school hol­i­days than on top of the world?

Be­low are just a few of the ac­tion spots which can be en­joyed - right up to the end of the sea­son on Satur­day, Septem­ber 30 and Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 1.


The world’s best freestylers tackle the bumps at Mt Buller.

The ABOM Mogul Chal­lenge at­tracts a world-class field in­clud­ing Win­ter Olympians and World Cup com­peti­tors.

The event’s his­tory dates back to late 80s and this iconic, colour­ful mogul com­pe­ti­tion is now one of the long­est run­ning race events in the world at­tract­ing the world’s best skiers from across the globe.

A fan­tas­tic spec­ta­tor event, the ABOM Mogul Chal­lenge al­ways draws a lively crowd.

THE 2017 Subaru Aus­tralian In­ter­schools Snows­ports Cham­pi­onships will be hosted at Mt Buller from Septem­ber 6-10.

1500 stu­dents from 250 schools from across Aus­tralia will par­tic­i­pate in the Na­tion­als.

Com­peti­tors will com­pete in nine dis­ci­plines in­clud­ing Alpine Gi­ant Slalom, Snow­board Gi­ant Slalom, Snow­board Cross, Ski Cross, Moguls, Cross Coun­try Clas­si­cal, Cross Coun­try SLIP SLID­ING: This young boy was hav­ing a great time slip­ping down the slopes of the to­bog­gan park dur­ing last sea­son’s school hol­i­days. Com­ing up are school hol­i­days again with kids’ pro­grams in the fore – lots to do and loads of fun to be had. SHAKE off your flu­oro one­sie, slip on your leg warm­ers, and get that hair up in a scrunchie 80s Day at Mt Buller is back and brighter than ever.

For one fun-filled, ac­tion packed day, re­sort guests, staff and res­i­dents will dust off their tight­est and bright­est retro ski out­fits and hit the slopes in style, mak­ing the most of the fan­tas­tic spring weather.

And re­mem­ber this one rule - make it tighter, make it brighter, and make it shinier.

11am - 1pm: Kof­flers Hutte - The DJ will be spin­ning 80s clas­sics as con­tes­tants com­pete in the Air Gui­tar Cham­pi­onships.

2pm - 3pm: Vil­lage Stage live 80s dance troupe The Real Hot Bitches per­form, as we at­tempt to break the un­of­fi­cial One­sie World Record.

3pm - 7pm: Of­fi­cial 80s Day Party at The Bird­cage - DJs will be spin­ning hours of 80s hits, best dressed awards will be handed out for “Best Retro Ski Gear” (his & hers), and “Best Retro Apres Wear”, and there will be fun games to play and drink spe­cials over the bar.

The Bird­cage is lo­cated in the Chalet Ho­tel on Sum­mit Road. HELLO PROSPEC­TIVE POND SKIMMER - 23 SEPTEM­BER

THE elite third-and-a-half an­nual Pond Skim Na­tional Cham­pi­onships at Mt Buller.

De­spite be­ing recog­nised as the Na­tional Cham­pi­onships, you don’t ac­tu­ally need to fol­low an ath­lete path­way from your lo­cal pond skim­ming club, through the state league, to reach na­tional glory.

Just reg­is­ter on­line and give it a crack (tal­ent scouts are pro­posed for 2018+).

Since 2016 didn’t hap­pen due to lack of snow - new scor­ing for 2017 sees cos­tume points dou­bled (to 50 per cent of total score).

Plus we’re giv­ing prizes to 5th posi.

All com­peti­tors MUST sign a waiver and get a wrist­band at the Sa­le­yards Ticket Of­fice be­tween 9am to 11am on the morn­ing of the event.

* For safety rea­sons (and some­thing to do with a mael­strom back in 2014) NO SHARP THINGS are al­lowed, in­clud­ing ski poles. KIDS WEEK -


ALL week long we’re cel­e­brat­ing Mt Buller’s small­est guests with spe­cial, kid friendly ac­tiv­i­ties on of­fer each day. Mt Buller mas­cots Blake the Flake and Barry the Pygmy Pos­sum will be out and about so make sure if you find them to say g’day. BANGERS ‘N’ MASH - 30 SEPTEM­BER
