Pullin hits the slopes

MT Buller na­tive Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin was present at a two-day snow­board cross fes­ti­val on July 28 and 29, which was aimed at of­fer­ing ex­per­tise to the next gen­er­a­tion of riders.

Around 60 snow­board­ers, aged be­tween nine and 19-years-old, par­tic­i­pated at the event.

Among the other par­tic­i­pants in­cluded fel­low Olympians Cameron Bolton, Adam Lam­bert and Belle Brock­hoff, along with ex­pert coaches.

Pullin won the Snow­boarder X event at Hotham Alpine Re­sort dur­ing the fes­ti­val.

“Stoked to get this win,” the two-time world cham­pion wrote on Face­book.

Pullin has come a long way since he be­gan ski­ing at the age of three-year­sold on Mt Buller, and has plans to con­tinue with his suc­cess.

Pullin was quick out of the gates from the word go, which is part of why he dom­i­nated from the be­gin­ning.

He has got his eyes on the prize of World Cup vic­tory this sea­son, and has been busy “rip­ping around Hotham” in re­cent weeks.

Re­flect­ing on his suc­cesses, the vet­eran snow­boarder has a strong de­sire to suc­ceed in 2018 and 2019.

He plans on giv­ing back to the sport of snow­board­ing at a grass­roots level.
