Boys battle for state honours
BLACKTOWN International Sportspark hosted 13 regional teams for the PSSA Australian Football State Carnival last week.
The three-day competition served a dual purpose with an overall winning team crowned and players selected for the state team.
A total of 286 boys competed for the right to represent NSW at the School Sport Australia National Championships in Geelong in July, with 23 selected for the NSW Blue Pups.
The State Carnival itself was won by Mackillop after they defeated Riverina in the final on Thursday.
“It was a tremendous success. The boys played in brilliant weather on the best facility that NSW has to offer in terms of AFL,” NSW PSSA Australian football manager Scott Stavely said.
