Fantasy opera to delight
THE big ideas, bold themes and beautiful singing of Puccini’s Turandot are headed to Sydney this month.
Graeme Murphy’s grand vision of imperial Peking has been a classic in the Opera Australia repertoire since it first came to the Sydney Opera House in 1991.
The fantasy opera of poetry and myth will return to the iconic venue from June 24 to August 28.
Turandot is a beautiful and brutal princess who challenges her many suitors to answer three riddles on pain of death. No one has ever succeeded.
US soprano Lise Lindstrom and Australia’s Zara Barrett head the production’s international cast, set in an exotic world where fear and love go hand in hand.
We have 40 A reserve double passes to give away to see Turandot at the Sydney Opera House on Wednesday, July 15, at 7.30pm.
