Happy to give St Vinnies a hand
LEONIE Stout has been a dedicated volunteer receptionist for St Vincent de Paul at Mt Druitt for close to seven years.
She credits the worthwhile cause for keeping her busy in retirement.
“I like getting out of the house,” Mrs Stout said.
Fellow volunteer Mark Brady began serving at the site as a counsellor two years ago to build up his hours while studying.
He said, while that quota had been long filled, he kept coming back to help because the people were so good to work with.
St Vincent de Paul Society service manager Danielle Budge said the centre offered help for emergency needs. “Basically we wouldn’t be able to operate without our 15 active volunteers,” Ms Budge said.
