Video series puts struggles in perspective
STREET Uni Mt Druitt’s Made in Mt Druitt campaign to put a positive twist on the suburb has taken off.
It originally began has a four-video series to combat the negative publicity that followed the airing of SBS documentary Struggle Street last month.
According to one of the videos’ producers Zehrish Naera, a successful DJ from Mt Druitt, the campaign has snowballed into a continuous series.
“We’ve had a really good response from the general public and local community,” Naera said.
So far Street Uni has released four videos – the first one featuring Naera’s own story as DJ 26th Letter who has worked with the likes of Katy Perry – which celebrate the diversity of Mt Druitt through the eyes of its own.
Two more videos are expected within the next week, and Naera said they will keep coming.
Anyone who wants to be featured in a Made in Mt Druitt video can contact the producers via facebook.com/StreetUniversity and facebook.com/mtdruittstandard.
Zehrish Naera has enjoyed showcasing the best of Mt Druitt.
