RE: “Tree fells fire station,” ( Mt Druitt-St Marys Standard, June 10).
All the trees have disappeared, because of these new sub-divisions. Yet when my ex-partner and I built our first home, on acreage 20 years ago, we could only take out the trees where the house was going to be built.
Some of these councils overcharge just to remove a tree. We had a tree also on the footpath of our property and the council wanted over $3000 to pull the tree out.
We ended up leaving the tree there. No one used the footpath but us and there was no road to walk on where I used to live.
