man has been charged with attempted murder after a 50year-old was stabbed while sitting in his car in an industrial area at Mt Druitt on Friday night. The man, 50, was parked in Coventry Place about 9.20pm when a second man got into the car. It is alleged the man then stabbed the 50year-old multiple times in the face and chest. The injured man went to a nearby caravan for help and was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. Police arrested a 37year-old man at a property in Erskine Park on Saturday evening. He was charged with causing wounding to person with intent to murder and remanded in custody until July 10.
CREEK An over-size B-double primemover towing a trailer hit a railing and became wedged between barriers at an off ramp of the M7 in the early hours of last Wednesday. The truck was travelling south on the M7 when it entered a work zone near the Light Horse interchange. It then attempted to leave the motorway via the Wallgrove Rd off ramp, but struck 60m of railing before becoming wedged between the railing and concrete barrier, blocking traffic for hours. The driver, a 61-yearold Victorian man, was issued with a major defect notice for the damage.
MARYS A 17-year-old learner driver, pulled over by St Marys police in the early hours of Saturday morning on the Great Western Hwy, allegedly returned a positive alcohol breath test of 0.03. The teenager, from Doonside, will appear at the Penrith Court at a date to be set, on charges of special-range drink-driving and driving unaccompanied.
MARYS Police have arrested and charged a man with drug offences. While patrolling Gidley St in St Marys on Friday about 9.30am, police saw a man allegedly acting suspiciously. After speaking to the 41-year-old from Emu Plains, they searched him and found a number of tablets, for which he allegedly had no prescription. He has been charged with possessing prescribed drugs and bailed to appear at Penrith Court on July 9.
A lossprevention officer has been punched in the face by someone trying to steal items from a grocery store. The man was seen removing a number of items from a store in Emerton and putting them in his jacket about 4.30pm on Saturday. The man, in his late 40s with light-coloured hair, was stopped, but punched the officer in the face before running off. Anyone who can help should ring Mt Druitt police on 9675 0699.
DRUITT A 19year-old man will face court after he was stopped while riding a trail bike in Mt Druitt. Police were patrolling Belmore Ave about 6.20pm on Sunday when they spotted the rider. Police will allege he was not wearing a helmet, and the trail bike was unregistered. The 19-year-old was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice and is due to appear in Mt Druitt Court on August 13.
PARK A police search of a Lethridge Park home in the early hours of Monday morning has allegedly uncovered a homemade shotgun with working bolt-action, ammunition, a combat knife, stolen mail and several pairs of black gloves. It followed the arrest of a 33-year-old Cabramatta man, who was charged with break-and-enter and driving while disqualified. The man was arrested after allegedly running from police Sunday at Green Valley after he was pulled over.
