Mt Druitt nets top spot at state ti­tles

THE Mt Druitt Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion un­der-12 di­vi­sion 3 side emerged the win­ners of the 2015 Net­ball NSW State Age Cham­pi­onships.

The team won 14 of the 15 games they played against var­i­ous sides over the three­day tour­na­ment.

To claim the cham­pi­onship, the team racked up a to­tal of 28 points with run­ners up West­lakes on 25.

Mt Druitt Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion pres­i­dent Mar­garet Weir said she was proud of all the teams.

“It was a great team ef­fort,” Weir said. “They had a high per­cent­age of for and against as well. To lose only one game, they did re­ally well.”

More than 3500 ath­letes from 294 teams rep­re­sent­ing 83 as­so­ci­a­tions from across NSW com­peted for the ti­tle of Best in NSW.

The three-day com­pe­ti­tion was hosted at four dif­fer­ent lo­ca­tions, with di­vi­sion 3 play­ing their round robin at Pen­rith Dis­trict Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion.

Net­ball NSW pres­i­dent Wendy Archer praised the ef­forts of all the play­ers.

“What a won­der­ful, splen­did week­end of net­ball - the weather was ter­rific, and the stan­dard of net­ball was right up there to match it,” Archer said. Mt Druitt’s un­der-15s di­vi­sion 4 side fin­ished 16th, the un­der-13s di­vi­sion 4 team fin­ished 17th and the un­der-14s di­vi­sion 3 team came 20th.
