Construction to begin as ALDI gets green light
SUPERMARKET chain ALDI will shortly begin construction of its store at the Sydney Business Park following Blacktown Council’s approval of its development application.
ALDI will build a 1000sq m store on the 8048sq m site it bought in Marsden Park, with the opening set for early next year.
It will join IKEA, Lindt & Sprungli, McDonald’s, Bunnings, Masters Home Improvement, Home Hub, Shell and Swire Cold Storage in the first stage of development, which opened in 2013.
The Shell petrol station, which includes a Coles Express, began operations on June 23, becoming the latest multinational to open there.
An ALDI spokesman said the company would provide another employment boost in Western Sydney’s growth area.
“More and more people have become familiar with the ALDI difference, which is driving greater interest among shoppers in the area,” he said.
“Our Marsden Park store will cater for this growing demand by offering an unbeatable shopping experi- ence for residents and workers in the area.”
The German chain has more than 340 outlets countrywide.
When completed, the 256ha Sydney Business Park is expected to create 17,000 jobs.
