MARNIE Perlstein is an eastern suburbs-based personal stylist with a passion to help people from all walks of life dress for success.

“There’s such a strong connection between mood and clothing, which is why I think it’s important we put more effort into what we wear,” she says.

From stay-at-home mums to corporate travellers, Marnie believes hiring a stylist is no different from engaging the services of a personal trainer or beauty therapist.

“It’s definitely not just for celebrities. It’s another form of outsourcing,” she says. “I help people streamline their wardrobes, take them shopping, do online shopping for them and style them for events.”

Marnie is also often hired as a speaker to present workshops for companies on the psychology of fashion.

“So much of it is about perception, how we feel when we put clothes on,” she says.

“I teach them the rules of dressing for your body shape.”

For those looking to update their wardrobes, Marnie advises starting by culling existing items taking up precious cupboard space.

“I can see that people have repetitive buying behaviour that’s wasting their money,” she says.

“I’m there to make sure they can open the cupboard and not falter in the morning.”
