A teenage motorcyclist was injured when he collided with a car in Hassall Grove last Tuesday. About 2.45pm, a 15year-old was travelling along Buckwell Drive when he lost control and collided with the rear driver’s side of a Subaru sedan. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle on to the road and suffered a number of injuries to his right arm, shoulder and wrist. Police were contacted and attended the scene, and the rider was later taken by ambulance to Nepean Hospital. Police spoke with the rider in regards to the motorcycle being unregistered and uninsured.
WHALAN A man was caught driving disqualified at Whalan on Sunday. About 8.50pm on July 19, police were patrolling along Luxford Rd when they saw a Mitsubishi Magna travelling alongside the police vehicle without its headlights on. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to 23-year-old Lethbridge Park man. They conducted a roadside breath test, which came back negative. The man stated that he had forgotten to put his headlights on. After further inquiries, police discovered his licence was disqualified, and issued the man a court attendance notice in relation to the incident.
ROPES CROSSING Druitt police are investigating a vehicle fire at
MRopes Crossing on Tuesday. About 2.23am on July 21, police were called to Mackay Circuit in regards to a vehicle on fire. They used garden hoses to attempt to reduce the damage to the car until the fire brigade arrived about 10 minutes later and the fire was extinguished. The vehicle was completely destroyed as a result of the fire, and a nearby vehicle was also damaged. Inquiries are continuing and anyone with information in relation to the incident is urged to contact Mt Druitt police.
EMERTON M Druitt police arrested a Lethbridge Park man for lowrange drink-driving on Monday. About 8.50pm, a man was seen by police driving his a silver Holden Commodore along Copeland Rd in Emerton and tailgating another vehicle and swerving on to the wrong side of the road. Police stopped the vehicle and when speaking with the man noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath. The man was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result. The the driver was arrested and taken to Mt Druitt police station where he was subjected to a breath analysis, which returned a lowrange reading. The man was issued a court attendance notice to appear before the MtDruitt Local Court in relation to the incident.
ROOTY HILL A Doonside man was charged on July 15 after a woman was sexually assaulted in Rooty Hill. Police allege the 23-yearold man sexually assaulted and robbed the 46-year-old woman on the North Pde overpass on July 9. He was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated robbery. He was refused bail and appeared before Mt Druitt Court on July 15.
MT DRUITT Women in the NSW Police Force are marking 100 years of service this year, with celebrations for the milestone happening in Mt Druitt and St Marys this month. The baton will arrive at Mt Druitt police station on July 29 and members of the local police and the community will run a 5km relay to Whalan Reserve. Members of the community are invited to the reserve where there will be activities and entertainment from around 10.40am. The baton will then go to St Marys on July 31, where police officers and community representatives will participate in a march down Queen St. The baton is part of a six-month journey around the state, and will eventually make its way to the Sydney Opera House for a “welcoming home” event in September.
