Rewards for ratepayers
INCENTIVE PRIZES INCLUDE MOTORSPORT PASS, HOLIDAY
BLACKTOWN ratepayers will have extra incentive this year to pay their council rates promptly.
A rewards scheme for residents who pay a year’s worth of rates before August 31, the Blacktown Ratepayers Reward program, has prizes such as a motorsport experience package at Eastern Creek Raceway, a year’s supply of movie tickets and a weekend away on the Gold Coast.
Blacktown mayor Stephen Bali said the scheme was a way to give back.
“The entire ratepayer rewards package is spectacular, and includes some pretty exciting and entertaining prizes,” he said.
“This year’s rates will be spent to bring some compassion back to council, as well as bringing down our maintenance backlog and providing the standard services that ratepayers expect.”
First to eighth place prizes will be awarded to winners selected by random. Prizes include a 12-month Sydney Motorsport Park turbo pass, a Gold Coast holiday package including flights and accommodation, a year’s supply of Hoyts Blacktown movie tickets and a $100 Seven Hills Plaza supermarket voucher.
Other prizes include a $100 Blacktown Workers Club voucher, $50 Seven Hills Plaza clothes voucher, Oak Bar and Grill $100 voucher and a $50 voucher for Riverstone Marketown.
Last month, the council voted to cut $200 off pensioners’ annual rates.
“This year’s budget has a series of provisions that make life a little easier for pensioners, and facilities that faced closure some time ago are being continued as a result of strong ratepayer demand,” Cr Bali said.
“Council has listened, learnt and acted.”
To be in the running, make sure you have your rates paid in full before August 31. Winners will be announced in September.
