CATCH A NIGHT OF POP DIVA HITS
TRIO SPARKLE ON STAGE
FROM Hi-5 to high groovin’ with The Diamonds, Casey Burgess has seen and done it pretty much all.
“Leaving Hi-5 was definitely a tough call to make, but I knew my time had come,” Burgess said. “I was ready to move on from children’s TV and performing after five years.
From Home and Away to hosting Girl TV, to her present metamorphosis as a member of The Diamonds, Burgess certainly likes to keep herself busy and audiences entertained.
“The audition (for The Diamonds) came through at the very last minute,” she said. “I was asked on the morning to take in some material and sing to the manager, Dave.
“I sang through a couple of songs with him, and got the call that night to start re- hearsals the next day. Having to dance and sing at the same time isn’t as easy as it looks, so I was totally blown away at first when I saw what the show entailed, but I was lucky that I had the Hi-5 background.”
This past year has been a highly memorable one for Burgess, who admits she is just fortunate to have a supportive cast and crew around her.
“Every trip so far has been memorable for different reasons, but being able to travel with girls so talented, who I can actually say are amazingly close friends now, is such a bonus,” Burgess said.
“A couple of highlights would be travelling to Singapore and performing on top of Marina Bay Sands for the Formula 1, and also our time on the cruise ship where we stopped in Hong Kong.”
Where to now, though, for this shining star?
“Hopefully to Vegas,” Burgess laughed.
“I love hitting up the regional towns around Australia because the audiences are always so amazing and grateful, but I think The Diamonds would be a fabulous show on the Vegas strip as well.”
The rare and pure charisma of The Diamonds is a sure bet to captivate all music lovers.
“We get to sing big ballads and greatest hits by Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, The Supremes, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys ... the list goes on,” Burgess said of the talent she gets to emulate week-in, week-out.
The Diamonds are Shikye Smith, Hannah-May Buckley and Casey Burgess.
