The days are numbered for Blacktown’s Animal Holding Facility at Prospect. Councillors voted in favour of building a new facility at Glendenning with Blacktown Council to begin initial designs and sourcing funding for the project. Council will investigate replacing the cattery in the interim. Council also passed new policies for animal rehoming as well as discounted rates for animal adoption. Blacktown Deputy Mayor and veterinarian councillor Russ Dickens defended the existing facility but led the campaign for construction of a new facility.
