The State Government, Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink have urged commuters to avoid trespassing on train tracks. Transport and Infrastructure Minister Andrew Constance discouraged the practice. “Not only is it dangerous, but trespassing on the tracks means big fines of up to $5000,” Mr Constance said. Sydney Trains chief executive Howard Collins said: “Every year around 4000 people trespass on the tracks for a range of reasons from taking shortcuts to committing graffiti vandalism.”
