Re­lo­ca­tion bid

Black­town Coun­cil has promised to con­sult with all the groups us­ing the Rooty Hill Leisure Cen­tre in a bid to as­sist them in re­lo­cat­ing their ac­tiv­i­ties ahead of the new lease taken up by the YMCA. A num­ber of com­mu­nity groups, in­clud­ing dance and bas­ket­ball groups, were con­cerned af­ter the coun­cil put the pro­posed joint lease of the site by YMCA and Hockey NSW on public ex­hi­bi­tion. The coun­cil’s de­sign and de­vel­op­ment di­rec­tor said: “Coun­cil of­fi­cers will con­sult with all user groups to un­der­stand each group’s needs as we work with all par­ties to try and iden­tify a so­lu­tion or al­ter­na­tive lo­ca­tion to ac­com­mo­date the ac­tiv­i­ties.”
