Two on murder charges
POLICE PROBE CAUSE OF DEATH AFTER MAN’S BODY IS FOUND
A MAN and a woman have been charged with murder after the body of a man was found at Hebersham on Sunday night.
Police were called to a unit in Andover Cres, near Hebersham Public School, about 7.30pm on Sunday.
When they arrived officers found the body of a 26- year-old man on the floor of a bedroom, with wounds to his head and shoulder.
Speaking to The Standard yesterday, police confirmed the man lived in the unit but would not comment on whether he lived alone.
It is believed a cleaning product, likely bleach, had allgedly been poured on the man. Police set up a crime scene on Sunday night as the unit was examined.
While initial investigations found the man was believed to have been stabbed, the cause of death is yet to be identified.
Detectives from Mt Druitt and State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad formed Strike Force Meldrum to investigate the death.
As a result of their inquiries, police tracked the dead man’s 29-year-old halfbrother to a train station.
He was arrested by offi- cers from the Police Transport Command at Central station about 8am on Monday.
Early yesterday, the accused’s 23-year-old girlfriend, arrested at the same time, was also charged with murder.
Both were refused bail and were due to appear in Central Local Court yesterday.
Anyone who noticed anything out of the ordinary in the streets surrounding the unit, and those with information which could help the investigation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Callers can remain anonymous.
