Local focus is off

RE: “BLACKTOWN Mayor Stephen Bali slams ‘ludicrous’ plans to sack NSW councils,” (mtdruittstandard.com.au, August 18).

Australia’s three-tier government should have been dissolved 20 years ago. They serve no purpose, as they constantly infringe outside the initial purpose of the intention of their inception.

They no more have a focus on local issues like roads, garbage collection, maintenance of sports grounds, parks, etc.

Using garbage trucks (at a cost to ratepayers) to get on the news for no gain to ratepayers is a prime example of the amateur behaviour.

The English gave us this threetier system, but they don’t have it. What does that tell you? CHRIS WATT, via Facebook
