FOR Jaxon Mawson, playing Australian rules footy is about the people not the points.

The Young Sporting Spirit nominee is known on the field for his exemplary team mentality.

The 10-year-old Oakhurst player was voted the Best and Fairest out of the competition in his age bracket last year.

Jaxon’s manager at the Rooty Hill Power Junior Australian Football club, Vanessa Dixon, described him as an enthusiastic player.

“He is truly a team member and encourages his team mates to push themselves and set the bar higher,” Dixon said.

“As a more skilled and experienced player, Jaxon mentors and guides new and younger players on and off the field. He is wellliked and respected by teammates and parents of our club.”

While he wants to play for the GWS Giants, for now Jaxon said he just enjoys the game.

“I like getting out there and playing and helping the kids and just having fun,” Jaxon said.
