Res­i­dents are warned to be vig­i­lant with home se­cu­rity as Mt Druitt po­lice in­ves­ti­gate a break and en­ter at Rooty Hill on Fri­day. Be­tween 5-9pm, thieves forced en­try into the Char­lotte Rd unit be­fore ran­sack­ing rooms and steal­ing items in­clud­ing a wal­let, per­sonal pa­pers, and back­packs. Some timely tips for home safety in­clude en­sur­ing all door locks are func­tion­ing and main­tained in good work­ing or­der, and if your home has a se­cu­rity screen door in­stalled, keep it locked. If there is ac­cess from the garage, en­sure this door is locked be­fore head­ing out. If you have an alarm sys­tem in­stalled, al­ways re­mem­ber to regularly check the bat­tery and test the sys­tem.
