Teacher charged with as­sault

A MT Druitt teacher has been charged with ag­gra­vated in­de­cent as­sault in re­la­tion to al­leged in­ci­dents in­volv­ing two teenage stu­dents at a school in Western Syd­ney.

Po­lice will al­lege in­ci­dents took place at a high school in the Mt Druitt area be­tween Fe­bru­ary and July.

The charges re­late to al­le­ga­tions of in­de­cent as­sault by a teacher against two of his stu­dents – a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl.

A Depart­ment of Edu- cation spokesman said the teacher was re­moved from the school be­fore any charges had been laid.

“Coun­selling sup­port for stu­dents has been, and con­tin­ues to be, avail­able,” the spokesman said.

“As this mat­ter is be­fore the courts, the Depart­ment can­not pro­vide fur­ther com­ment.”

The teacher, 43, was ar­rested at a home in Mt Druitt af­ter po­lice from the Pen­rith Child Abuse Squad started in­ves­ti­gat­ing tions.

The man has been charged with five counts of ag­gra­vated in­de­cent as­sault and one count of ag­gra­vated act of in­de­cency – child un­der 16 per­son in au­thor­ity.



The man was granted bail and is due to ap­pear at Mt Druitt Court on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 8.
