Teacher charged with assault
MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED INCIDENTS INVOLVING TEENS
A MT Druitt teacher has been charged with aggravated indecent assault in relation to alleged incidents involving two teenage students at a school in Western Sydney.
Police will allege incidents took place at a high school in the Mt Druitt area between February and July.
The charges relate to allegations of indecent assault by a teacher against two of his students – a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl.
A Department of Edu- cation spokesman said the teacher was removed from the school before any charges had been laid.
“Counselling support for students has been, and continues to be, available,” the spokesman said.
“As this matter is before the courts, the Department cannot provide further comment.”
The teacher, 43, was arrested at a home in Mt Druitt after police from the Penrith Child Abuse Squad started investigating tions.
The man has been charged with five counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of aggravated act of indecency – child under 16 person in authority.
The man was granted bail and is due to appear at Mt Druitt Court on Thursday, October 8.
