Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a stab­bing at Leth­bridge Park on Satur­day night. Emer­gency ser­vices were called to a home on Waitaki St about 7.30pm, where they found a man with mul­ti­ple stab wounds. The 45year-old has been taken to West­mead Hos­pi­tal with non life-threat­en­ing in­juries.

HE­BER­SHAM A man has been charged with firearm of­fences at He­ber­sham. About 11.45am on Satur­day, po­lice were pa­trolling and saw a white Skyline sedan al­legedly trav­el­ling in an er­ratic man­ner. The driver, a man, 21, pulled into the drive­way of a house in Richard­son Cres­cent, and al­legedly ran into the house. Po­lice stopped and spoke with the man when he came out of the house a short time later. A scuf­fle en­sued and the man was ar­rested. He was treated at Mt Druitt Hos­pi­tal for a fa­cial in­jury. His car was searched and a num­ber of pro­hib­ited items were al­legedly found, in­clud­ing a re­volver and knife. The man has been charged to face court next month.

WHA­LAN Po­lice do not be­lieve the fire at Wha­lan on Thurs­day night was sus­pi­cious. Close to 20 fire trucks re­sponded to an in­tense shop fire on Bu­lolo Drive about 9.55pm. Mt Druitt fire­fight­ers ar­rived to find thick smoke bil­low­ing from the roof of the Wha­lan To­bac­conist. The fire quickly spread through the roof area of ad­join­ing shops. A Fire and Res­cue NSW spokes­woman said the fire was put out shortly be­fore 2am. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing but po­lice said they be­lieve the fire started in the roof.

MINCH­IN­BURY Res­i­dents were forced to flee as a fire took hold of a home at Minch­in­bury yesterday. Just be­fore 2.30am, fire­fight­ers were called to a house fire on Minchin Drive. All oc­cu­pants es­caped un­in­jured. The cause of the fire is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated. The worst of the dam­age was in two back rooms of the house.

ST MARYS A man, 39, will face court next month charged with drug of­fences af­ter po­lice al­legedly found cannabis plants in his home. About 10.30am on Thurs­day, po­lice searched a home in Des­bor­ough Rd at St Marys. Dur­ing this search po­lice al­legedly found cannabis plants. He will face Pen­rith Court on Oc­to­ber 8.
