Beaconsfield Rd, corner of the Great Western Highway, Rooty Hill Residents say the area needs attention as grass is growing up and over the drain, path and road. As cars drive around the corner, they are forced to drive through large puddles of water.
THIS WEEK: The causeway on Stoney Creek Rd, Shanes Park Beaconsfield Rd, corner of the Great Western Highway, Rooty Hill KERBS and drains at Rooty Hill and Shanes Park have topped the list of trouble spots selected by readers in NewsLocal’s Neighbourhood Rescue campaign.
Residents have made complaints about Beaconsfield Rd on the corner of the Great Western Hwy at Rooty Hill, where overgrown grass has prevented the area from draining after rain.
The causeway at Stoney Creek Rd is another area causing concern as the road is regularly blocked off in bad weather. Blacktown Council is responsible for both of these cases.
A spokeswoman said the council deployed staff to undertake regular inspections of all streets and drains, recording the defects identified and prioritising the sites accordingly.
“On average, the council identifies or receives over 9000 individual requests for drain and gutter maintenance each year,” she said.
“All defects identified or reported are recorded … emergency requests are actioned immediately or as soon as resources allow.”
