Spring is in the air
IN THE GRIP OF FINALS FEVER
G’DAY. Journo Jack here — nice to meet you all.
I’m the mascot for the 20 community papers that make up NewsLocal.
I’ll be dropping by each week to talk about what’s happening in local communities across Sydney and the Central Coast.
I’m loving being here in September. The weather’s warming up, the days are getting longer and everyone’s getting the fever.
And I don’t just mean the lurgy that has had everyone dropping like flies. I’m talking about footy finals fever.
For those whose team is still in the hunt for grand final glory, good luck.
For anyone playing in finals footy, remember to play hard but play fair.
For the rest, well, there’s always next year.
My team, the Wests Tigers, didn’t make it this year. But at least we avoided the wooden spoon.
Back in the day, I was a pretty handy player for the Bourke Warriors.
I had to play halfback because my head wouldn’t fit in the scrum. But the big noggin came in handy for charging through defence close to the try line.
I still enjoy playing but my work with NewsLocal keeps me pretty busy.
On Sunday, I’ll be at the Taste Food, Wine and Music Festival in Camden 10amnoon and at the Cabramatta Moon Festival 2-4pm.
Come and say hello and get your photo taken at the NewsLocal photo booth for a chance to win a $100 gift card.
