Stephen McGuin­ness, 27, of St Marys will next face Pen­rith Court on Oc­to­ber 30 charged with the mur­der of Mt Druitt man David Camp­bell, 26, at Free­mans Reach af­ter an in­ci­dent in Fe­bru­ary. The mag­is­trate ad­journed the mat­ter to al­low the pros­e­cu­tion to ob­tain a post-mortem re­port and po­lice state­ments. Mr McGuin­ness did not ap­pear and did not ap­ply for bail.


ST MARYS In­ves­ti­ga­tions into a sus­pi­cious death at St Marys are con­tin­u­ing. About noon on Septem­ber 18, po­lice were called to an ad­dress on Champ­ness Cres­cent af­ter a man’s body was found. A post­mortem ex­am­i­na­tion was con­ducted last Mon­day. The 46-year-old man had suf­fered a num­ber of head in­juries. The re­sults of the post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tion will form part of the re­port to the coro­ner. As St Marys po­lice, with the as­sis­tance of State Crime Com­mand’s Homi­cide Squad, con­tinue their in­ves­ti­ga­tions into the mat­ter, they are ap­peal­ing for any­one with in­for­ma­tion to come for­ward.


WHA­LAN A man, 21, has been charged af­ter he al­legedly led Mt Druitt po­lice on a pur­suit on Mon­day. About 2.30am, po­lice tried to stop the man for a ran­dom breath test but al­lege the driver drove away as of­fi­cers ap­proached the car. It is al­leged the pur­suit ended on Res­o­lu­tion Av­enue where the Prospect man was ar­rested. In­quires at the scene found that the man had three out­stand­ing war­rants for other driv­ing-re­lated of­fences, in­clud­ing be­ing cur­rently dis­qual­i­fied from hold­ing a driv­ers li­cence.


ST MARYS Po­lice are ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses af­ter a pizza shop in St Marys was held up last week. Of­fi­cers were called to the Gal­lipoli St res­tau­rant about 10.30pm on Thurs­day night af­ter two men armed with me­tal bars threat­ened em­ploy­ees. A fe­male em­ployee ran to the back while her male co-worker con­fronted one of the men, who threat­ened him and de­manded money. The armed pair fled the scene emp­ty­handed. St Marys po­lice es­tab­lished a crime scene and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing. De­tec­tives would like to speak to two men, both have been de­scribed as be­ing of Pa­cific Is­lan­der/Maori ap­pear­ance. One of the men was about 178cm tall and had a solid build.


BID­WILL Mt Druitt po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a fire at Bid­will on Sun­day. About 2am, po­lice were called to a unit com­plex at Jas­mine Ter­race fol­low­ing re­ports of a fire. Fire and Res­cue NSW were quick to re­spond and ex­tin­guish the blaze. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are
