Stephen McGuinness, 27, of St Marys will next face Penrith Court on October 30 charged with the murder of Mt Druitt man David Campbell, 26, at Freemans Reach after an incident in February. The magistrate adjourned the matter to allow the prosecution to obtain a post-mortem report and police statements. Mr McGuinness did not appear and did not apply for bail.
ST MARYS Investigations into a suspicious death at St Marys are continuing. About noon on September 18, police were called to an address on Champness Crescent after a man’s body was found. A postmortem examination was conducted last Monday. The 46-year-old man had suffered a number of head injuries. The results of the post-mortem examination will form part of the report to the coroner. As St Marys police, with the assistance of State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, continue their investigations into the matter, they are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
WHALAN A man, 21, has been charged after he allegedly led Mt Druitt police on a pursuit on Monday. About 2.30am, police tried to stop the man for a random breath test but allege the driver drove away as officers approached the car. It is alleged the pursuit ended on Resolution Avenue where the Prospect man was arrested. Inquires at the scene found that the man had three outstanding warrants for other driving-related offences, including being currently disqualified from holding a drivers licence.
ST MARYS Police are appealing for witnesses after a pizza shop in St Marys was held up last week. Officers were called to the Gallipoli St restaurant about 10.30pm on Thursday night after two men armed with metal bars threatened employees. A female employee ran to the back while her male co-worker confronted one of the men, who threatened him and demanded money. The armed pair fled the scene emptyhanded. St Marys police established a crime scene and investigations are continuing. Detectives would like to speak to two men, both have been described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance. One of the men was about 178cm tall and had a solid build.
