Daw­son Mall, Mt Druitt Res­i­dents have nom­i­nated the gar­den beds in Daw­son Mall as need­ing some at­ten­tion from Black­town Coun­cil. They have called for new plants to be put in to stop the area look­ing “shabby” and ne­glected.

PPARKS and gar­dens at Mt Druitt and Black­ett have topped the list of trou­ble s spots se­lected by read­ers in NewsLo­cal’s Neigh­bour­hood Res­cue cam­paign.

Res­i­dents have made c com­plaints about Daw­son Mall gar­den beds they claim look shabby and need p plants.

The park on Idriess Cres at Black­ett also needs “a fix” as it has been ne­glected for too long, ac­cord­ing to r res­i­dents.

A Black­town Coun­cil s spokes­woman said the c coun­cil had an ex­ten­sive port­fo­lio of parks, re­serves, sports fields and gar­dens.

“We have over 800 parks and re­serves in­cor­po­rat­ing some 160 sports fields and over 200 play­grounds,” she said. “To en­sure ser­vices are pro­vided city­wide to these fa­cil­i­ties, the coun­cil has adopted an Open Space Main­te­nance Strat­egy which has clas­si­fied each park and re­serve.”

Res­i­dents are en­cour­aged to re­port con­cerns to the coun­cil on 9839 6000.
