High-flying hot wheels

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - NEWS -

G’DAY everyone. Journo Jack from NewsLocal here.

I love driving. The throb of the engine, the wind in my hair, the endless possibilities of the wide open road ... and that’s just getting out of the driveway.

But speeding around in a truck then launching 10m into the air? I think I’ll leave that to the experts.

On October 31, Stadium Super Trucks will roar into Sydney, featuring 10 trucks from the US.

The off-road trucks boast more than 600 horse power and a suspension system that wouldn’t be out of place on a spaceship.

I went to the launch event at Spotless Stadium the other week and can confirm that these guys are crazy.

Veteran road racer Paul Morris would agree.

As Morris was strapped into the passenger seat and driven at high speed into the stadium, I could hear him screaming a mile off.

That was before he hit the ramp and the truck soared through the air.

“I have been in helicopter crashes that didn’t scare me as much,” Morris said later.

Morris will need to get his act together, and maybe pack a change of underwear, as he’s one of the Australian drivers who will be part of the high-flying antics at Spotless Stadium.

NewsLocal has an exclusive offer for readers. Book tickets at ticketek.com.au/ stadiumsupertrucks and pay only $44 for adults and $140 for a family of four. Full terms and conditions are on the Ticketek site.
