Witty one-line wonder Seymour wins top NewsCorp award
NEWSLOCAL has picked up two major prizes at the 2015 News Awards, which recognise excellence in NewsCorp publications across Australia.
The Wentworth Courier, sister publication to the Standard, was named community newspaper of the year, while NewsLocal deputy editor-in-chief Trevor Seymour won the award for best headlines, beating competition from metropolitan and regional titles.
NewsLocal editor-in-chief Kathy Lipari said it was fabulous to see the fantastic efforts of NewsLocal staff recognised in this way.
“Trevor Seymour is one of the hardest-working people on the entire NewsLocal team and thoroughly deserves the gong for his clever and witty headlines, while the Wentworth Courier under Steve Howard continues to set new standards of excellence week in week out,” she said.
NewsCorp Australia chief executive Julian Clarke, who hosted the ceremony, paid tribute to the “outstanding work” of staff who produce the company’s newspapers, magazines and websites.
