Marlisa’s song up for ARIA gong

GLEN­DEN­NING’S win­ner Marlisa Pun­za­lan has been nom­i­nated for Song Of The Year at the up­com­ing 2015 ARIA awards.

Her sin­gle will go up against some of Australias big­gest names in mu­sic in­clud­ing Iggy Aza­lea, Sia, Vance Joy and Pek­ing Duk.

has now reached more than 2.4 mil­lion hits on YouTube and has reached plat­inum sta­tus, sell­ing more than 70,000 copies.

De­spite her suc­cess the 16year-old said she could not be­lieve she was nom­i­nated.

“This is my first award nom­i­na­tion — I was more ex­cited by it than any­thing,” she said.

“No way in a mil­lion years did I ex­pect to be so pop­u­lar.”

Pun­za­lan said she hoped to win the award but was just glad to be nom­i­nated. “I wasn’t ex­pect­ing it at all, just to be nom­i­nated is amaz­ing,” she said.

As for new mu­sic, Pun­za­lan told her fans to watch out.

“I have some new mu­sic com­ing over very soon. It is go­ing to be dif­fer­ent and will be a big sur­prise,” she said.

The ARIA Awards will be held on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 26, at The Star in Syd­ney.
