Colborn pitches in to help Blue Sox
EX-MAJOR LEAGUE COACH BRINGS EXPERIENCE
THE Sydney Blue Sox will add some Major League experience with ex-LA Dodgers coach Jim Colborn.
Colborn has been appointed pitching coach for the 2015/16 season, bringing years of Major League baseball experience to the side.
He began his Major League career as a player during the 1960s and ‘ 70s before coaching with the Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates and, most recently, the Texas Rangers.
Colborn will join Blue Sox manager Jason Pospishil, who will return for his fourth season.
Colborn said coaching in Sydney was the perfect opportunity.
“I have always been intrigued with Sydney,” he said.
“I think it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I have been a scout for the last few years and I need to get back to what I do best … the Blue Sox gave me the opportunity to do both.
“I look forward to passing on whatever I can that might make these boys better persons and better pitchers.”
Pospishil shared Colborn’s excitement. “The chance for our players to work with a coach of his calibre will be an immense positive to our organisation.”
The Blue Sox have finished in the top three for the past four years.
They will open the season against the Melbourne Aces on Friday at Melbourne Ballpark.
